Technik zum Anfassen

Hands-on innovation with biochar in Witzenhausen

On the 29th of September, the CASCADE project was proud to take part in the ‘Technik zum Anfassen’ (Technology to Touch) event in Witzenhausen, an interactive day where innovation met hands-on experience. Running from 11:00 to 17:00, the event attracted visitors of all ages and provided a unique opportunity to explore cutting-edge ideas in a practical and engaging way.

A key highlight of the day was the Tiny House, where participants were able to explore the science behind, potential applications and benefits of biochar in a variety of settings. Visitors were invited to interact with the technology and learn how biochar contributes to sustainability through its multiple uses in agriculture, water management and carbon sequestration.

Alongside the tiny house, a small exhibition showcased existing products and ideas developed in the field of biochar. This allowed participants to see first-hand how biochar is already being used in innovative ways to address environmental challenges.

One of the most popular activities of the event, especially for the younger participants (although many adults took part too!), was the seed bomb making workshop. Participants were able to make their own seed bombs using a mix of soil, clay, local seeds and biochar, learning about the environmental benefits of biochar while having fun.

The event was a great success and highlighted CASCADE’s commitment to making sustainable technologies accessible and engaging for all generations.
