Inspiring the Next Generation: CASCADE and CDEC Promote Sustainable Construction
CDEC recently had the pleasure of meeting with students at Lycée Edward Steichen in Clervaux, Luxembourg. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss sustainable construction practices and the circular carbon economy. This initiative forms part of the CASCADE project, which aims to explore the potential of biochar-a carbon-rich material produced from organic waste-in various sectors, including construction.

During the session, CDEC representatives underscored the potential environmental benefits of biochar, including its role in carbon sequestration and soil enhancement. They also explored innovative applications of biochar in building materials, emphasizing its potential to improve insulation properties and structural integrity.
This educational outreach reflects CASCADE’s commitment to integrating sustainable materials into the construction industry and fostering environmental awareness among future professionals. By engaging with educational institutions like Lycée Edward Steichen, CASCADE aims to inspire the next generation to adopt and advocate for sustainable practices in their respective fields.
